diving in Cape Verde
  Best diving season: from April to November all diving sites are accessible. Out of this period, fewer sites are available, depending on the trade winds.

Average depth between 6 and 30 meters.

Best diving sites:

In Sal: Bera de Coral, Bera Preta, Buracona, Caval, Choclassa, Farol, Lagosta Verde, Peridao, Pontinha, Razo de Leao, Santo Antao (shipwreck).

In Santiago: Baixa Raca, Djeu Grande, Djeu Preto, FazendaI, Fazenda II (shipwreck), Fim de Baixa, Laginha, Modja, Derra, Pinedo Branco, Ponta de Atum, Ponta de Dedo, Ponta Monde, Ponte Preta I, Ponte Petra II.

In Boavista: Atlantide, Curral Velho, Jao Valente, Morro de Rei, Ponta do Sol

Location: Western Africa, group of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, west of Senegal. It is formed by 10 main islands and about 8 islets.
Geographic coordinates: 16° 0' N, 24° 0' W
Coastline: 965 km km
Climate: temperate; warm, dry summer; precipitation meager and very erratic
Terrain: steep, rugged, rocky, volcanic
Elevation: highest point: Mt. Fogo 2,829 m (a volcano on Fogo Island)
Natural hazards: prolonged droughts; seasonal harmattan wind produces obscuring dust; volcanically and seismically active
Currency: Cape Verdean escudo (CVE)
Population: 418,224 (July 2005 est.)
Languages: Portuguese, Crioulo (a blend of Portuguese and West African words)
