The Produce hit the Aliwal Shoal in August 1974 and drifted to sink, inshore off the shoal. Many years later, due the rough seas that pound this area, the hull split in half amidships and eventually rolled onto it's starboard side. Today the aft and front section of the wreck are scattered on the ocean floor. Watch out for some massive Brindle Bass which hide in the inside of the wreck. A salvage team was granted permission to cut off the prop in the mid 90's, which they then floated into Durban harbour and sold to a scrap merchant! SHAME ON YOU...
A must-do dive
The produce has been one of my favourite dives yet. Fairly big wreck with lots to see down there. Try find a Scorpionfish camouflaged on the wreck, look out for rays gliding past etc. etc.
