The Marquesas Islands are a group of islands in the northeast of French Polynesia.
There are several main islands in two groups of islands: both northern Marquesas (Eiao, Hatutu, Nuku Hiva, Ua Huka, Ua Pu...) and the southern Marquesas (Fatu Hiva, Fatu Huku, Hiva `Oa, Moho Tani, Tahuata, Terihi...) and several seamounts or shoals, located in the area of the northern Marquesas (Clark Bank, Hinakura Bank and Lawson Bank).
