Puerto Vallarta is located on the pacific coast. The Bay of Banderas is one of the largest bay of the coast.
Marietas Islands is one of the most popular areas in Western Mexico for scuba diving and snorkeling. It comprises two large islands, islets, rocks and sea mounts located along 5 miles out of the north point of Bahia de Banderas, Punta de Mita.
This islands are inhabited by numerous species of marine birds such as blue footed boobies, yellow footed boobies, brown boobies, pelicans, hermanīs seaguls and frigates to mention a few.
Because of their large area, Islas Marietas offer a variety of dive sites to accomodate all levels and interests of divers.
It is not unusual to see giant mantas in Islas Marietas. During the whale season (November-March) it is common to observe whales around the islands.
