Baltimore is a small town in western County Cork, Ireland. One of the most notable landmarks in the area is the Baltimore Beacon, also known as Lot's Wife. This large stone structure at the entrance to Baltimore Harbour was originally built at the order of the British government after the 1798 rebellion. It was part of a series of lighthouses and beacons dotted around the Irish coast, forming a warning system.
There are many interesting dives in the area, including wrecks (U-260, Alondra, Dido or the Illyrian), kelp forests, drifts... The largest wreck in Europe (Kowloon Bridge, over 300 metsrs long) is just offshore.
