L’archipel des iles Andaman est situé dans le golfe du Bengale. Ces iles font parties de la province indienne appelée « Andaman and Nicobar Islands Union Territory » gérée par le gouvernement fédéral (comme les iles Lakshadweep). La ville principale est Port Blair qui en est aussi le chef lieu administratif.

Un bon site de plongée se trouve sur le « Mahatma Gandhi Marine Park » à Wandoor, situé à 29 km d Port Blair.
